I am now residing and working in West Texas (actually working in Colorado at the moment) while the eastern edge of Hurrican Alex is howling and blowing through Surfside Beach. Poor Honey is there riding the storm out all by her lonesome. I wish I was there with her. I would love to see the storm firsthand. Luckily Honey is keeping us abreast of things with her dramatic pictures of what is happening out there.
The storm of course is striking in Mexico, and the surf is really up in South Padre; nonetheless, things are popping at Surfside. The beaches are closed to the public, but the surfers are sneaking in, getting their kicks on waves cresting six or eight feet higher than normal. You can't protect the idiots, as the saying goes. But they are having a great time. In Colorado...no hurricane. Just the beautiful mountain scenery and fresh air of the American Alps. I love to visit the area, but, with Denver being located so closely to Denver, I will be more than eager to head back to the dry, bare, meager, and peaceful non-Alps of Midland. I will be back there soon.
